Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of SCCC's T3 Grant?

The Descriptive Title for the Project is Interventions for Student Success. The activity targets poor retention rates, faculty development and academic assistance for at-risk students. The Grant spans 2004-2005 through 2008-2009 academic years.

Who are the primary contacts for the project?

Mike Fisher is the Project Director and also the Chair for the Division of Professional Studies.  Olivia Lightle is the Teaching & Technology Center Facilitator. Rich McElrath is the Instructional Technologist. Onalie Pettit is the Student Success Advocate.

How may I participate in the project?

Freshman students, identified to be at-risk, participate in increasing numbers over the life of the grant.  By the final year, successful interventions will be used with all at-risk students. Faculty members may participate through professional development activities directed at incorporating the use of technology into their classes. The point of contact is Rich McElrath, who may be reached via email at rmcelrath@sullvan.suny.edu. All members of the College community are encouraged to serve on standing and ad hoc committees related to the grant.  The point of contact is Mike Fisher, who may be reached via email at mfisher@sullvan.suny.edu. The Teaching & Technology Center (TTC) is located in E006. Faculty and staff are welcome to use the technology and register for workshops and/or 1:1 tutorial sessions. The point of contact is Olivia Lightle, who may be reached via email at olightle@sullvan.suny.edu.

How do I seek T3 funding for professional development?

Typically, requests are sent to the TTC Facilitator first in E006 for processing. A travel paperwork checklist with hyperlinks is located on the common drive in the CAO-Forms folder with details about specific forms that are required. Completed paperwork is required in order for a decision to be rendered on the request. An ad hoc committee of faculty representatives reviews all requests and decides whether or not to approve funding. The TTC Facilitator is then informed of the funding status and relays this information to the applicant. (The committee meets on an as-needed basis.) Requests must be made thirty (30) days prior to travel and should be made within the following two windows: September 1 to December 1 and February 1 to May 1. The professional development committee reserves the right to discuss requests not made following these guidelines at its own convenience.
