Registration
for Courses
It is the student’s responsibility to take the courses needed for graduation
in the proper sequence. Normally, registration takes place after consultation
with the academic advisor assigned by the College. Newly admitted students are
advised by a staff academic advisor in the Learning Center.
Continuing students will be given a Personal Identification Number (PIN) which
enables course registration via the campus computer Web Module. The PIN also allows
students to drop or add courses and to access their financial information.
Students who desire to register for closed courses can use wait lists (see below).
If a vacancy occurs in a course before schedules are mailed the course will be
added to the student’s schedule.
After classes begin, a student desiring to register for a class that is full should
go to the first and second class meeting. If a registered student misses the first
two class meetings without prior arrangement with the faculty member, that registered
student’s place will be given to the first person on the wait list who is
present.
No student should depend on admittance to a waitlisted course. The student should
register for an alternate course. If a student gains admittance to a course for
which he or she was waitlisted, the student should consider dropping the alternate
course. (2001-2003 Catalog and CAO Notebook)
Wait List
Students who desire to register for a course that is at capacity may be placed
on the course’s wait list. If a vacancy occurs before schedules are distributed
to students, that course will automatically be added to students’ schedules
in the order students were placed on the list.
Once classes begin, students desiring to register for a class that is at capacity
should go to the first class meeting. If a student who is registered for the class
misses the first class meeting and is not present at the beginning of the second
class meeting, that student’s place will be given to the first person on
the wait list who is present or who has made other arrangements with the Professor
for inclusion in the class. Once enrollment is accomplished, a form should be
sent to the registrar indicating the names of the student added and the student
who was absent who will be withdrawn from the course.
