SCCC
was the only college or university in the U.S. to
offer classes on site to our soldiers in Tikirt,
Iraq.
SCCC faculty and staff have earned numerous awards
and citations for education excellence, including
over 20 State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor’s
Awards.
The
Student Learning Center is staffed with full-time
professionals who provide free tutoring, study groups,
skills workshops and counseling.
If
you have the grades, you can be invited to join
Phi Theta Kappa, the largest honor society in American
higher education.
SCCC
is wired with easy-to-access technology. Campus-wide
Internet access via a wireless network as well as
in ten wired computer classroom/labs! Easy-to-use
student login accounts allow you to store your homework
on one of our many servers so your homework "follows"
you where ever you are on campus.
Let
your imagination run wild in the College’s
state-of-the-art Writer’s Lounge stocked with
six multimedia computers.
The
College offers childcare to its students. Through
its Early Childhood program, SCCC has a New York
State-licensed Child Development Center on campus
that operates during the academic year.
There
are lots of activities at SCCC - movies, slam poetry,
lectures, dances, and comedy shows. Join the Science
Alliance, the Independent Black Student League,
the Student Government Association or organize your
own group or activity.
The
SCCC Generals’ women’s and men’s
teams compete in basketball, cross-country, volleyball,
baseball, softball, golf and cheerleading.
The
Paul Gerry Fieldhouse has a wide variety of recreational
activities like basketball, tennis, racquetball,
and volleyball and a new workout room all available
to students free of charge.
SCCC
Culinary Arts students appeared on “Emeril
Live” on the Food Network.
A
student in our Communications Arts division was
an intern for The Learning Channel’s program,
“Town Haul.”
A
geo-thermal system provides heat and air conditioning
for the campus.
